I love using movie poster design as both a personal exercise and as a assignment for my students because of the opportunity to hone their skills in visual hierarchy, style consistency, and understanding the tone of the movie. Researching the plot, meanings, and symbolism of the movie provides a great jumping off point to start designing the poster.
